Summer heat is here, and today the heat index reached a scorching 114°F! Such extreme temperatures can cause heat stress in cattle, which can be fatal. In our rotational grazing program, we ensure that our animals have access to pastures with shade. Dark-coated cattle tend to retain more heat than lighter-colored ones, but heat stress can affect cattle of any color.

Fortunately, we received good rainfall throughout July, allowing our pastures to flourish with fresh forage. This is a welcome change after the drought conditions we've endured over the past few years. For the first time in several years, we’ve had to clip our pastures because the grass is growing too quickly for our grazing program. But this is a good problem to have!

We are thrilled to report that our beef sales have been doing exceptionally well, thanks to you, our loyal customers. Our sales of GLC Custom Beef (Quarters, Halves, and whole sides of beef) have been very robust. This option offers the best price per pound due to buying in bulk. If you have freezer space, consider this option—you will save a lot of money in the long run!
